What is the Digitising Home-Based Health Care Short Course?

Involving a patient in their own treatment or health care can be an extremely effective method of improving the health care system. In order to solve the problem of limited resources in the current healthcare system technology can be employed to ease the burden. Implementing a self-management of health strategy for patients to monitor and manage their own health at home can reduce the demands placed on the healthcare system and greatly improve the effectiveness of treatments. However, it also empowers the patient to take controland develop an understanding of their own health which in turnmay improve the effectiveness of the treatment and the patient’s overall health. Implementing such a strategy requires a lifestyle change. Patients need to include new daily tasks relating to managing and monitoring their health through technology. Thus, this short course will address the topic of both self-management of health and lifestyle interventions in the aging population.

CDTM in cooperation with EIT Health, one of the largest healthcare communities worldwide, has created this 4-day short course, aiming to solve the problem of limited resources in
the current health care system. This 4-day short course aims to provide students with a solid foundation in understanding innovation in home-based health care with four main
approaches: Topic area knowledge, solution based skills, case studies and developing innovative solutions. You will be provided with knowledge and methodologies needed to
deploy digital technologies in the field of self-management of health. Working in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams, you’ll learn and apply ideation techniques,
user need studies, rapid prototyping and cutting edge technology. This short course focuses on ensuring that elderly individuals can stay active and independent at home for as long
as possible. The short course is accompanied by case studies from the EIT-partner MADoPA.
