Jelena’s research takes a transformative view of innovation and explores both consumer and organizational perspectives on innovation. She is especially interested in understanding and uncovering innovation opportunities in healthcare services (e.g., through studying patient-led innovation and coproduction dynamics), as well as how organizations can make innovation decisions based on impact considerations. In January 2019, Jelena became co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Product Innovation Management, the leading academic innovation journal.

Before joining Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München to lead the Institute for Innovation Management in 2017, she held faculty positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Texas A&M University, and was guest professor at the University St.Gallen. Jelena obtained her PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
